Sussi (Marcela Orosio) is a young woman who leaves her country home for Santiago and the promise of a better life in the city. After she checks into a boarding house, Sussi gets a job at a hospital but soon quits when she is besieged by men who make passes at her. She takes a job as a model after working at a tawdry nightclub and has love affairs with the powerful head of an advertising company and a college student. When the student disappears, Sussi decides she wants him instead of the wealthy man who wants her to have an abortion after learning she is pregnant.
