Synopsis by Mark Deming
In this comedy, the Nostromo is an aging single-screen movie theater in suburban Detroit that has seen better days. The weather is hot and sticky, the air conditioning at the theater has broken down, and most of the employees have called in sick, leaving three people to run the place -- the hapless manager, a cranky high-school student, and a shady former convict. Under ideal circumstances, this would make for a challenging day at the Nostromo, but through some fluke, this is the day the year's most hotly anticipated blockbuster is opening at the theater in an exclusive engagement. Can the skeleton crew handle the overflow crowds at the theater without driving themselves and the customers crazy? Surviving the Rush was the directorial debut from Michigan-based independent filmmaker Sean Farley.
