In this slice-of-life film about a crowded row of low-income housing that forces neighbors to share their lives because they all inhabit one communal space and one source of water, human interactions that bring color and life to their society are emphasized. A father tries to marry off his daughter to someone he thinks is rich, but the prospective groom is only a con artist; a young man and older woman fall in love and have the hardest time getting together; and other personal stories have less-than-ideal endings -- like the fate of the housing community itself. Looming on the horizon is a move to high-rise living since the street is on the verge of expansion into a greater number of lanes and the community housing unit is in the way.
