Synopsis by Gönül Dönmez-Colin
Sunset Heights is a science-fiction film which takes place in the near future in a city in Ireland. The city is ruled by two rival gangs, Beilermen and Westies. There has been a series of child killings which have affected both gangs. The latest victim was the child of Luke Bradley, an ordinary citizen who has avoided being involved with either of the gangs. Local rumor leads to Sam Magee, an old preacher and a religious recluse. Both gangs join forces to execute him at the Sunset Heights, a pagan stone circle where the Druids once performed magical rites to their God of the Sun. But soon another child is missing. Following the sightings of the Preacher around town, the gangs dig up his grave and find to their horror that the body has vanished. Bradley is caught in the middle when terror and suspicion sweep through the gangs. Someone has to find the murderer before everyone is destroyed. The film can be taken as a parable of the conflict in a country which has symbolically "killed" its youth.
