Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man learns the hard way just how easily his comfortable life can be taken from him in this independent comedy-drama. Alan (Tony Tucci) loses his job as an executive with an upscale Los Angeles firm just as he's about to propose to his girlfriend Susan (Kerrie Clark). Alan's eccentric friend Kevin (Jorge Ameer) is able to get him a deal on an flashy engagement ring for a mere $20,000, but before Alan can give Susan the ring, circumstances turn his life upside down. Alan discovers he's become the victim of "strippers" -- con men who have tapped into his bank account and lifted his credit card numbers, wiping out his savings and leaving him thousands of dollars in debt. Already out of a job, Alan has to face life with no nest egg and no financial cushion as he tries to start over again. Fate adds insult to injury as Alan is given his walking papers by Susan, becomes the victim of sexual harassment during a job interview, and is evicted from his apartment, leaving him little choice but to stay with the increasingly difficult Kevin. John Greenlaw, one of the film's producers, also served as a stand-in for leading man Tony Tucci, and shares billing for the role of Alan in the credits.
