Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Charles Ray does his usual turn, from country bumpkin to village hero in this especially pleasing vehicle. He portrays Toby Watkins, who would rather write poetry than work on his ill-tempered uncle's farm. So he quits and gets a job on the Sawbert Weekly Clarion. He also establishes a romance with the mayor's daughter, Jean (Jane Novak). A crook (Donald McDonald) comes to Sawbert and tries to extort money from the mayor. Toby foils these plans and saves his girl from the crook's clutches. When the long-running feud ends between his boss at the paper (John P. Lockney) and the mayor, the way is clear for Toby and Jean to be together.
