Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
In this drama, based on a novel by Lillian Smith, an African-American painter endures racism in his Georgia hometown. The year is 1948 and blacks have just been given the vote. He, however, stays away from the ballot box. Eventually he is persuaded to get involved and as a result is killed. His death inspires his community to take action.
