Humble blue-collar laborer and family man Bill Baker (Matt Damon) contends with the unthinkable after his college-aged daughter Allison (Abigail Breslin) calls him from behind the bars of a French prison, revealing that she has been charged with murder. Bill then resolves to travel from rural Oklahoma to the bustling cities of France on an odyssey driven by paternal instinct, determined to prove his daughter's innocence to the French courts and secure her freedom.
