Synopsis by Jinko Labitag

Lilka Elbaum, a native of Lodz, Poland, still remembers the still-life painting that hung above her bed in her childhood bedroom. It had been hanging in the same spot since the late 1890s when the house was first inhabited—before the Nazis wreaked havoc in the country, before her family made the house their home, and before they were forced out of the country in 1968. Still Life in Lodz is a film that centers around Lilka’s return to Poland and the events the painting has witnessed. Directed by Slawomir Grunberg.
