Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Using an old treasure map as their guide, Popeye and Olive Oyl set sail for Olive's secret gold mine (so "secret" that a huge neon sign advertises the fact) . Unfortunately, claim-jumper Bluto already has a head start, and is merrily harvesting the valuable ore long before the other two have shown up. This curious "Popeye the Sailor" entry plays more like a Warner Bros. cartoon than a Fleischer production, with the three protagonists behaving wildly out of character as they slam across an abundance of zany nonsequitur gags. Making things even weirder, it is nominal villain Bluto who gets the biggest laughs.
