Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The bluntly titled British game show Steal required its contestants (two teams of three players each) to select squares of different cash values from a computerized board, with the grand prize going to whoever accumulated the largest amount of cash during the program. What made things difficult was the fact that the players had to memorize what was on the aforementioned board in a brief 15 seconds. During the game itself, the board would turn 90, then 180 degrees, forcing the players not only to remember where the big prizes had been, but where they were now. For every incorrect guess, the player would have to remain in "jail" until the next round. Hosted by Mike Walker, Steal was telecast by ITV from 1990 to 1991.
