Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Richard Shelton (Rowland Lee) comes from an aristocratic Southern clan, but when he goes to New York, he becomes enmeshed with some bad characters. One of them, Enderleigh (H.A. Barrows), has a stock fraud, and when the postal inspectors begin to close in, he convinces Shelton to bring him to his hometown. When the trail gets too hot there, he tries to take the money and run, but Shelton shoots and kills him. He is put on trial and testifies that the conman defiled his sister Betsy (Irene Hunt), thus giving him the right to commit murder (in the view of this harshly moral era). The court acquits him, but Betsy's fiancée, Calvin Stone (Jack Livingstone), realizes that Shelton is lying and forces him to confess and save her reputation.
