Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Beamed out to the British Isles by London Weekend Television, the half-hour sitcom Square Deal starred Lise-Ann McLaughlin and Timothy Bentinck as Emma and Nigel Barrington, a well-to-do South London married couple. The connubial bliss of the Barringtons was shattered when Emma opened up a sandwich-bar business with a handsome go-getter named Sean (Brett Fancy). Inevitably, Emma dumped Nigel in favor of Sean, whereupon the vengeful ex-husband used his clout as a real estate agent to get even with his errant spouse. In later episodes, Sean attempted to find success as a rock star, only to be stymied by the underhanded activities of Nigel, who was now Sean's landlord. The 14 half-hour episodes of Square Deal were broadcast in two separate clusters, from September 3 to October 15, 1988, and from September 1 to October 13, 1989.
