Synopsis by Alice Day
Many of the high-tech advances created for the space program have been applied to consumer and industrial usage. The use of satellites to determine a position on Earth -- the Global Positioning System -- helps emergency crews racing to provide assistance to those in need. The remote sensing abilities of satellites can also be used to track the numbers of fish in waterways. In Space Tech: From Faster Response to Space Stations, students of science can see how the technology that enables astronauts to work in a comfortable environment is adapted for medical purposes. A glimpse at the International Space Station is offered.
