Synopsis by Alice Day

Technological advances produced for the nation's space program have many applications for industry and consumers. In this series of programs first seen on the Discovery Channel, examples of these uses are shown in short segments. Satellite technology is used by vintners in California in their fight against a major wine grape pest. The medical tool of ultrasound was first developed to monitor the physical condition of astronauts. Space Tech: From 3-D Imaging to Flight Simulators also looks at the use of flight simulators, useful not only to astronauts, but to airline pilots and military personnel.
