Now that the curtain has fallen on communism, mainstream video productions of previously top secret information is available for all to see. This documentary from the Soviet Secret Archives details the world of the so-called 'red aviator' and the weapons of mass destruction that they flew. The tape takes off with the introduction of Soviet flight in 1882 through to the annihilation of over 50,000 planes of the German Luftwaffe during World War II. Highlights include previously unrecorded black and white and color footage of such Soviet aircraft as the Maxim Gorky, the Yak-9 and the infamous bandit of the skies, the MIG fighter.
