Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Brian Glover starred in this British sitcom as Horace Gilbert Bestwick, new director of the Ettaswell Town Band. Once the pride of England, the band had fallen into the doldrums in recent years due to lackadaisical management and incompetent performers. As the son and grandson of Ettaswell's most celebrated directors, Bestwick intended to restore the band to its former glory. Unfortunately, the well-meaning Bestwick was more than a little pompous and overbearing, prompting his resentful musicians to behave in a manner more suitable for a kiddie kazoo band. Lasting six hour-long episodes, Sounding Brass aired over Britain's ATV service from July 2 to August 6, 1980.
