Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Son of the Land is a textbook example of a Russian propaganda film, replete with stereotyped characters and sledgehammer symbolism. Humble peasant Aman works all day, sweats and strains, body all achin' and wracked with pain. Meanwhile, landowner Slundzh-bek continues to grow rich and fat on Aman's labors, threatening to cut off the peasants' water supply if his demands aren't met. All of this changes when the communists install new machinery which supplies an endless flow of water for Aman and his fellow laborers. The villain comes to a sad end, while Aman finds connubial bliss with heroine Kadrylai.
