Synopsis by Sarah Ing

Architect Paolo Soleri always visualized a world without boundaries. He saw people living together in a fused harmony that incorporated community with environmental awareness. His concept for integrative architecture is known as Arcology and Soleri's Cities: Architecture for Planet Earth and Beyond is his story. As a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, Soleri sought the destruction of the overcrowded and bleak American city. He designed Arcosanti, a project where social and cultural forces work with, not against, buildings. His communities combined homes, offices, schools, and parks into large complexes that minimized pollution and included the natural surroundings. Soleri's innovative ideas come to life through diagrams, footage, and interviews.
