Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The 6-reel Soldiers of Fortune was adapted from a typically gutsy novel by Richard Harding Davis, who also appeared in the film. Set in revolution-torn Mexico (but filmed on location in Cuba), the film casts Dustin Farnum as a mercenary in the employ of the rebels. A fine figure of a man, Farnum was better as a romantic lead than an action hero. The film might have been better had his talented brother William Farnum assumed the leading role. Running six reels, Soldiers of Fortune managed to capture all the highlights of the Davis original, which the trade magazine Variety described as "too well known" to warrant a resume.
