Wally Wales attempted a bit of comedy in this better-than-average B-Western from assembly-line studio Action Pictures. Wales played a "Walter Mitty-ish" soda jerk who's fired for reading too many Western stories on the job. With nothing to lose, Wally jumps on a freight-train West, letting himself off near a travelling medicine show owned by Professor Beerbum (J.P. Lockney) and his daughter, Sylvia, the latter known "around the world" as fortune-telling Mademoiselle Zalla. One of the customers, Charles "Slim" Whitaker, is a notorious bandit whose gang absconds with the Beerbum cash box. Wally, who is reliving the heroics of his favorite Western novels, single-handedly catches the gang and gets the girl. For audiences with long memories, the character name "Beerbum" was a rather obvious pun on famed British Shakespearean Actor Sir Herbert Beerbohm-Tree, who had failed to become an American movie star back in the mid 1910s.
