It delves into cultural complexities and the unique synergy generated from the region's rich past and dynamic present. Volume one, Post Colonial Waltz, examines the effect of British power upon Malaysia, an independent country since 1963. Also featured is the cosmopolitan Singapore. Other highlights include a look at the cultural impact of the Dutch upon Indonesia, the French connection in Vietnam, and the Americanization of the Philippines.
