Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
The Canadian National Sledge hockey team embarks on an emotional eight-month journey to the World Championships in Sledge Hockey as director David Mcllvride explores their struggle to overcome disability and earn respect as true athletes. Some members of the team were born with disabilities; others found their lives altered by accident. All are bonded by their desire to become world champions in their chosen sport. The Canadian National Sledge team previously earned a gold medal at the Paralympics in Torino, so what better way to test your mettle than to strap on a sled and hit the ice? But for every man who longs to win the gold, there's another who's just as driven and determined. The athletes may be remarkable, but the individuals who make the team are truly incredible. As the athletes gather in a small Ottawa community for the Selection Camp, the wait ends, and the adventure begins.
