This comedy finds a young man setting up a barber shop in a small town near the border. Most of the residents work on a collective farm, resenting outsiders and constantly gossiping. An affair with a local female singer is followed by an infatuation over a beautiful farm girl. Her sister seduces the barber when he is drunk one night, and the local rednecks plan revenge for his actions. He is also sought by a woman with a moustache who has political ties. He fights small town hypocrisy as he tries to earn a living in the snowbound village.
