Synopsis by Farida Ezzat
Directed by Rita Baghdadi, the documentary chronicles the rise of the first female heavy metal band in the Middle East called Slave to Sirens. The Beirut-based band is co-founded by Lilas Mayassi and Shery Bechara, two guitarists aspiring to become rock stars while providing musical solace to their fellow Lebanese youth. The five-woman band must battle social norms, sexual prejudice, and gender stereotypes to make their dream come true.
