Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Veteran Toei director Shunichi Hajima spins this tale about the education of a bumbling innocent in the ways of the yakuza. Set during the immediate post-war era, the film centers on Heikichi (Masanobu Takashima), a country bumpkin who tells his mother that he's in school when he really is making pocket money hauling ice. One day, he gets sucked into a brawl between a gangster in the Ando-gumi and a bunch of knife-welding GIs. Though the Americans get thrashed by the gangsters, they take their aggression out on poor Heikichi. He comes to amid a crowd of cheering Ando-gumi yakuza, and in the lap of a beautiful hostess named Junko (Yoko Minamino). In one freak occurrence, Heikichi has found both his calling and the love of his life. His subsequent misadventures include wrecking his motorcycle, boinking a goodtime girl from a rival gang, and getting into a disagreement with Hanagata (Shinji Yamashita), a sadistic mob lieutenant who has a penchant for stubbing out his cigarettes on his knuckles.
