Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Debuting on Britain's Central Television in 1995, the weekly, half-hour comedy/drama series Shine On Harvey Moon was a revival of the 1985 series of the same name. In the original, the titular Harvey tried to reassemble the shattered pieces of his life after returning from WWII. The new series picked up in 1953, with Nicky Henson replacing Kenneth Cranham as Harvey Moon, who by now had become something of a political activist. Several actors from the original series reprised their roles herein, including Maggie Steed as Harvey's faithless wife Rita, Linda Robson as his daughter Maggie, Lee Whitlock as his son Stanley, Nigel Planer as Maggie's shiftless boyfriend (now husband) Lou, and Pauline Quirke as Maggie's wisecracking coworker Veronica. The "new" Shine On Harvey Moon lasted 12 episodes, compared to the original's 35 installments.
