Noted composer C. Ramchandra and lyricist P. L. Santoshi team up for this musical melodrama about a comedian's (V. H. Desai) four daughters, their jealous rival -- a daughter of a powerful landlord (Indumati) -- and the women's various suitors -- including the retainer of the landlord (Radha Kishen) and a handsome police man (Kishore Kumar). This film features a number of tunes that have become classics in India, including a railroad number called "Jawani ki rail chale jai re" that was sung by composer Ramchandra and future cinema master Guru Dutt. This film was directed by Santoshi.
