Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Very few who agitated for the creation of a state of Israel earlier in this century envisioned the kinds of chaos and suffering the actual event would cause. This documentary looks at the aspirations of the nation's founders and shows how many of those ideals were betrayed by the realities of the situation they found themselves in. This extensive documentary strongly argues the Palestinian cause and is particularly critical of the actions of Israel's radical religious right and such figures as Rabbi Meir Kahane. Non-religious Jews are portrayed as being in much the same boat as the Palestinians, as both are progressively victimized by militant religious parties.
