Synopsis by Alice Day
Aimed at students in junior high, high school, and college, this program reveals the uglier side of alcohol and drug use. Scenes in a crack house are shown, and a visit to death row is an eye-opening sequence, as users talk about the price of substance abuse. In Shadow of Addiction, they express regret at how their habits have led to the irretrievable loss of friends, relationships, money, and their good health. The language can be stark, as these users recall the path into addiction, which began in their youth. The consequences of their lifestyles are severe and unrelentingly grim.
