Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
The often riveting, yet truly sad and mixed-up lives of New York City street hustlers are examined in this candid profile. Young people talk about their haphazard lives, often never knowing where they'll be spending the next night or who will hire them next as they trade sex for the money they need to buy food, drugs, or temporary shelter. The danger of contracting HIV and other diseases are almost viewed like minor occupational hazards to some. The youthfulness of many of the kids is rather surprising, as is their ability to stay alive following encounters with some of the most unsavory characters who dwell within the shadows of the streets.
