Synopsis by Rebecca Flint Marx
Atlantic City is the setting for Charlotte's 36th birthday -- though as far as anyone else has to know, it's her 35th. Arriving on the boardwalk after a ride with Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) on Richard's private jet, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) can't wait for some major-league blackjack bonding with the girls. Thus, she's dismayed when Samantha spends most of her time worrying about whether or not Richard (James Remar) is going to cheat again, Miranda wants to spend her time resting and reading magazines, and Charlotte spends her time fretting about becoming an old maid. As Carrie watches Samantha finally give Richard the boot (and the diamond ring and pearl thong he gave her) and Charlotte make herself over with a look apparently inspired by the Seaside Hooker line, her cynicism reaches a boiling point. Watching a happy older couple enjoy the sunset together, Carrie realizes that she's using her friends to hide from her true feelings, and that it may be time to accept that love is worth betting her heart on.
