Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) attend a baby shower for Laney (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson), their friend who used to be a wild-living party girl but has settled down and become a typical suburban mother. Charlotte has always wanted to have a daughter, and seeing Laney makes her wonder if she'll ever have a family of her own. Carrie, on the other hand, is late for her period, and wonders how she'll deal with parenthood if her pregnancy test comes back positive. Laney confesses that she sometimes misses the freedom she gave up for her family, and Samantha decides to throw an "I Don't Have a Baby" shower.
