Synopsis by Rebecca Flint Marx

Having reached the third week of her affair with the married Mr. Big (Chris Noth), Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is finding it harder and harder to deal with the accompanying guilt and subterfuge. Not only does Aidan (John Corbett) remain blissfully ignorant of her infidelity, but when both Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) -- the latter of whom catches her friend leaving a hotel with Big -- tell her she must stop the affair, Carrie must do some serious soul searching. Samantha (Kim Cattrall), meanwhile, must do some soul searching of her own when the man she is dating demands she take an AIDS test; although she is terrified, Samantha gives in and is extremely relieved when the test comes back negative. Carrie, on the other hand, is in for no such relief when she breaks all of the rules and goes for a romp with Big between his conjugal sheets. Afterwards, Big leaves, and Carrie's afterglow is extinguished by the surprise intrusion of Natasha (Bridget Moynahan), who has returned early from a vacation. Catching Carrie as she vainly tries to sneak out, an outraged Natasha informs her that she knew of their affair all along, and then trips down the stairs, losing a tooth in the process. Carrie takes Natasha to the hospital, where, upon seeing Big, she tells him their affair is finished. However, Carrie still must reckon with Aidan, who is waiting at her apartment when she returns home.
