Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
The lives of three women, all from different walks of life, are woven together to offer an eye-opening look at life in communist Cuba in director Joel Cano's intimate, slice of life drama. An impoverished peasant who recently lost her daughter in an untold tragedy, Maria strives to comprehend a life without her child. Slaughterhouse employee Nieves' lot in life isn't much better, especially after she is unceremoniously fired by her callous boss, and television news broadcaster Norma finds her career in dire straits after refusing to deliver deliberately misleading government propaganda over the airwaves. The one thing all of these women have in common is a hope for a brighter future in a time when their vision has been distorted by the darkness that surrounds them.
