Synopsis by Dan Pavlides

This documentary from Japan combines film footage from Germany, China, Japan, and the United States in an overview of the World War II action in the Pacific. The film begins and ends with the war trials that followed the conflict. The bombing of Hiroshima is shown, but the film conveniently omits any mention of the Japanese atrocities in Nanking and other parts of China. The pretentious statement that -- "both sides involved in the war were wrong" -- sidesteps any admission of guilt by the initial aggressor. The feature continues in a tone in which the defeated countries involved in World War II try to justify or revise their involvement without taking responsibility for their actions.
