Synopsis by Steve Blackburn
Instead of relying on written accounts of this famous 1876 battle, archaeologists in this documentary reconstruct what happened at Little Big Horn by mapping where bullets and shell cartridges lay on the battleground. When the data are fed into a computer, the analysis of trajectories gives the scientists an idea of the actions of the cavalry and Indians. The resulting computer-generated re-creation of the battle reveals a scenario that differs from the traditional legend of Custer's "last stand." This program is a critically acclaimed episode of the Archaeology television series.
