Synopsis by Nathan Southern

In the tradition of Hoop Dreams and Rocks with Wings comes the deeply moving and heartfelt documentary portrait Second Chance Season. Nick Young, a 17-year-old basketball hopeful, stands at the center of Daniel H. Forer's biographical study. Young carries the potential to weigh in as one of the top collegiate recruits in the country, but terrible grades and SAT scores weigh him down -- to such an extent that they threaten to prevent his graduation from Reseda, California's Cleveland High School. Meanwhile, Young's family buckles beneath the weight of a tragedy: the long-ago murder of their older son, killed 13 years prior. Confronted by many obstacles that stand in is path, Young projects a wealth of uplifting perseverance and tenacity that continue to carry him forward, seemingly against all odds.
