Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
This affable romantic drama centers around the humble Tang family who live aboard their fishing vessel, which results in them being called "boat people" from some of the more snide members of their village. When the second eldest son decides to venture into the city to look for work, the family hires a laborer from Mainland China. The person they wind up with is vain chatterbox Lotus (Alice Lau Ar-lai), who proves to be utterly useless in fishing. However, she strikes the fancy of the Tang family's stuttering, introverted eldest son, Sea Root (Lau Ching-wan). As Root consoles Lotus, who learns that her former love who came to Hong Kong earlier has married, they soon fall in love.
