Synopsis by Nathan Southern
In 1997, visionary Daniel Handley conceived of the annual Sculpture by the Sea exhibition in Australia, as an event designed to pair groundbreaking, visually-arresting works of sculpture with the breathtaking majesty of the Australian coastline as a natural backdrop. In time, the exhibition dramatically evolved from a one-time event, to a celebration of art held perennially on the country's east and west coasts. As commissioned on the tenth anniversary of the first showing, this short documentary traces the evolution of the event year-by-year, with footage of some of the most illuminating artworks to participate.
