Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Created by Carla Lane, the BBC1 series Screaming was advertised as a sitcom, though there was just as much drama as comedy in the project's eight half-hour episodes. Gwen Taylor, Penelope Wilton, and Jill Baker starred as, respectively, Annie, Beatrice, and Rachel, three fortyish former school chums who shared the same house. Unbeknownst to one another, the three ladies also shared the same boyfriend, a gormless chap named Ralph (Tim Berrington). Much of the series' humor and pathos was based upon the ladies' individual memories of Ralph, which of course were at great odds with the other ladies' memories -- and the truth. Screaming originally aired from March 15 to May 3, 1992.
