Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Created by David Housham, the British game show Say the Word owed a lot to the format established by the earlier Catchword. On each episode, three contestants played a deceptively simple word game, trying to identify words, phrases, and sentences that lay hidden within a tic-tac-toe grid. Andy Crane was the series' genial (and oftimes excitable) host. Produced by Action Time, the weekly, half-hour Say the Word aired over Britain's Challenge TV cable channel beginning in 1997.
