Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This was a different kind of role for dramatic star Clara Kimball Young -- she first appears in this film wearing only a leopard skin! She is Renee Benoit, whose only contact with civilization was her trader father (Edward M. Kimball), who died drunk. Her next encounter with civilization happens when she meets Jean Lerier (Milton Sills) who is tramping through the Abyssinian mountains on an expedition. He decides to take Renee back to his home in Paris, where he dresses her stylishly and rouses the jealousy of his former flame, Aimee (Marcia Manon). But Renee senses that Jean does not love her and when he refuses to marry her, she angrily smashes some stones bearing hieroglyphics which he was supposed to decipher. She feels bad about her actions, so she puts the leopard skin back on and returns to her native land to replace the stones. Jean, meanwhile, has realized that he loved Renee after all and buries his sorrow in yet another expedition. A native prince (Clyde Benson) captures him and is about to sacrifice him when Renee appears. Believing that she is a Goddess, the natives run off and leave the lovers to reunite. This bizarre story was originally a novel, La Fille Sauvage, by Francois Curel.
