Synopsis by Steve Blackburn
Narrated by actor Stacy Keach, Savage Earth - Hell's Crust recounts thrilling tales of survival in the wake of the catastrophic eruption of Mt. St. Helens. The volcanic blast took off the top and side of the mountain, resulting in a deadly 60-foot-high, 100-mile-per-hour mudflow. Highlights include the stories of two campers who escaped the disaster, air travelers whose plane plummeted 25,000 feet after volcanic dust hit their jet, and residents who successfully fought molten lava that threatened their homes. This video is one of four tapes from the popular PBS series Savage Earth.
