Synopsis by Robert Firsching
Prolific Mexican filmmaker Alfredo B. Crevenna (Echenme al Vampiro) directed this above-average entry in the long-running fantasy series featuring wildly popular masked wrestler Santo (Rodolfo Guzman Huerta). Filmed on location in Haiti, the film pits Santo against the usual zombies and metamorphosizing bad guys (one turns into a tiger) which have traditionally marked the cinematic view of voudon and its practitioners. If one moves past the by-now cliched vulgarizations of a legitimate religion, this is a relatively fast-paced and entertaining effort, co-starring Elsa Cardenas, Sasha Montenegro, and Fernando Oses.
