Synopsis by Gönül Dönmez-Colin

This film throws light on the plight of Indian society through the life Ismail, a pious and patriotic railway station-master. Assertive and adamant, Ismail plays the role of a devoted husband, son, and father. His second wife, Razia, the mother of four of his children, is always discontented. His eldest daughter, Amina, is a victim of a difficult life situation. His eldest son, Najib, manifests the frustrations of a typical Indian youth. The film, which is a realistic depiction of many situations that Indian society is faced with today, won the National Award for Best Actor and Best Feature Film on Family Welfare 1997 and participated in the 1999 International Film Festival of India and the 4th International Film Festival of Kerala, 1999.
