Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Although its title sounded like the set-up to a "knock knock" pun ("Sam and Janet who?" "Sam and Janet Evening!"), this British sitcom concerned itself with a wealthy couple named Marshall. Though living in the lap of luxury, Sam (John Junkin) and Janet (Joan Sims) were not terribly fond of one another, and never let an opportunity pass to indulge in a vituperative argument. Sam and Janet was based on a radio series which also starred Carry On veteran Joan Sims, who left the TV version halfway through, to be replaced by Vivienne Martin. The 15-episode series was carried by ATV from 1967 to 1968.
