Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Ruler of the Road was adapted from Simeon Tetlow's Shadow, a short story by Jeannette Lee. The venerable Frank Keenan stars as a tyrannical railroad president, who is intractable and intolerant when it comes to dereliction of duty. The story begins as Keenan fires veteran engineer Frank Sheridan for falling asleep on the job and causing a minor accident. Sheridan argues that he was overworked and overpaid, but Keenan turns a deaf ear to his protestations. Thus begins a deep and abiding hatred between Keenan and Sheridan, who once upon a time were the closest of friends. The two oldsters are finally reunited at Christmastime with the not inconsiderable assistance of Sheridan's mischievous young son.
