Synopsis by Hal Erickson

One of the first postwar Czechoslovakian films to receive American release, Rozina the Love-Child was adapted by director Otakar Vavra from a venerable stage play. Marie Glazrova stars as Rozina, a 17th-century orphan whose romantic entanglements result in tragedy. Rozina's hot-blooded Italian lover Nikolo (Ladislav Bohac) refuses to share her affections with anyone else, and his "if I can't have her, no one can" stance figures prominently in the operatic finale. Top billing is bestowed upon Zdenek Stepanek as Father Anthony, the worldly abbot of the St. Agnes Monastery. Though expensively produced, Rozina the Love-Child was somewhat haphazardly put together.
