Synopsis by Clare Perez-Izaguirre Lopez
Directed and written by Alfonso Cuaron, this Mexican drama centers on the real-life memories of Cuaron growing up in a Mexico City neighborhood, during a year period from 1970-71. The narrative concentrates on the lives of two Mixteco maids Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio) and Adela (Nancy Garcia) who work for an upper middle-class family of six. Unexpectedly, Cleo becomes pregnant and subsequently feels pressure to carve out a harmonious future for her employee's family, and now her own.
